Nigerian Military recaptures Dikwa from Boko Haram

 
 
Dikwa town, which was captured from the insurgents in February by Chadian troops, was not completely liberated until the attack on Friday.

Although, the Air Force spokesman confirmed the recapture of the town, he was silent on the casualty figure on both sides.

The official media consultancy outfit of the Nigerian military, PR Nigeria, stated that the Nigerian Air Force Alpha Jet and surveillance aircraft were deployed in the offensive against the insurgents to the pave the way for the ground forces to move into the town.

It was stated that three ambush points with operational vehicles, mounted with anti-aircraft guns, belonging to the insurgents, were destroyed.

It was further stated that the military had commenced a cordon and search operation in Dikwa

The outfit added that the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sadique Abubakar, concluded a tour of the operational units of the service to ascertain the morale of troops and state of equipment in the operational areas.
