 Gunmen kidnap Plateau  ex-gov's father, Dariye
The father of a former governor of Plateau State, Chief Joshua Dariye, has been kidnapped by gunmen in Bokkos Local Government Area of the state, with the abductors demanding $10 million ransom.
Dariye’s father, said to be in his 80s, was taken Saturday night in his residence at his village, Mushere.
It was gathered that the gunmen fired gunshots in the air to scare residents of the area before the victim was abducted.
The state police command has confirmed the incident as its Police spokesperson, DSP Abuh Emmanuel, explained to Vanguard in Jos yesterday:   “At about 8pm on Saturday, armed men, numbering about nine, invaded the compound shooting sporadically and took the man away.
“We do not know the identities of the elements but efforts are being intensified by the Police to know the whereabouts of the men with the intention of rescuing the kidnapped man.”
Neither the victim’s son, Joshua Dariye, now a senator representing Plateau Central, nor other family members could not be reached for comments at press time.
