Policeman Kills Okada Rider In Ogun

A motorcyclist, popularly called Okada rider, Saheed Bamiro was this morning shot dead by a policeman, simply identified as Kabiru.

The deceased was involved in issuing tickets to riders in Ijebu Ode and was a native of Ijebu Igbo in Ijebu North local government area of the state.
The deceased’s neighbour, simply called, Iyabo, as gathered, had gone to the police station to report him and when police came to arrest him with handcuffed,he resisted and in the ensuing argument, the policeman fired a gun at him on his head and he died instantly at the spot.
The incident occurred at 71, Olukoku street, around De Bash Filling station, Ijebu Ode early on Wednesday, December 1.
Our correspondent gathered that the incident happened when the deceased resisted arrested by the police, who had gone to his house to arrest him this morning.
Narrating the incident to our correspondent, Comrade Yemi Ijaoba Odukoya, the Chairman of the Vigilante Service of Ogun state (VSO), said the remains of the deceased has been deposited at the state mortuary, Omo- owo area,Ijebu Ode.
According to him, “I received a distress call from some elders in the area and when I rushed there,I met the man in the pool of his own blood.
“We tried to see if the man can still get over it,but he had died immediately he was shot. I have took his remains to the state mortuary.
“What I was told was that he had a long time quarrel with one of her neighbours, identified as Iyabo and the woman had gone to the police station to informed them that the man is around and a police officer was attached to her to go and arrest the man.
“It was in the course of getting the man arrested and handcuffed that he resisted and the police was said to have shot him on his head and hr died immediately.
“I have put a call across to the Area Commander at Igbeba and what I was told was that the policeman has been arrested and detained for further interrogation,” the VSO boss explained.

Saheed Bamiro has a wife, Seun, with three young kids.
