Players with El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri players survived a Boko Haram attack on their way to protest their unpaid salaries.
Two players who spoke tosaharareportersports.com said they were saved only through the expertise of the bus they boarded from Ibadan to Maiduguri.
The players, Sylvester Francis and Ahmed Giwa were asked by the El-Kanemi Management and the State Commissioner of Sports to report in Maiduguri for a protest against unpaid salaries when they had the near death experience.

Saharareporterssports.com reports: “If not for God’s grace our team mates would have died in a Boko Haram attack on Saturday when their vehicle was attacked near Maiduguri. While our mates are at home relaxing and resting ahead of the next season, we are risking our lives on the highway to get what is due us.
“We got here and the same promises that they have been giving us from the beginning of the season is the same thing they are giving us now. After risking our lives to come back, why are they treating us like this?’ queried an EL-Kanemi player on the grounds of anonymity.
The players were engaged in a protest as they entered the ninth month without seeing their salaries.
