'Stop playing politics with the dead' - Rivers PDP to APC

Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State has appealed to the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state not to play politics with the dead.

Chairman of the state PDP, Mr Felix Obuah, who spoke to newsmen, yesterday, in Port Harcourt, said it was unfortunate that the APC has started playing politics with those who died in the state.

Stressing that the PDP had no hand in the death of anyone in the state, Obuah appealed to politicians to respect the dead.

He recalled that the PDP recorded a landslide victory in the last election because it campaigned round the state.

Obuah dismissed as laughable, calls by some speakers at the APC rally on Monday for the declaration of a state of emergency in the state, saying that noting should warrant such from anybody.

He assured that the PDP government will continue to take steps to promote good governance in the state.

According to Obuah, the party had sealed arrangement to celebrate peace in the state.

“We want to say that the PDP will not condescend so low as to play politics with the lives of Rivers people by celebrating falsehood and deceit. We shall strive to defend democracy, good governance and the sanctity of lives, no matter the situation,” he said.

Obuah also called on the governorship candidate of the APC, Mr Dakuku Peterside, to shun desperation and be orderly.

“We call on President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Assembly and the law enforcement agents to call Dakuku, his Abuja based sponsor and the Rivers APC to order,” he said.
