A bloody bus accident in Uganda has reportedly left two people dead and fifteen others injured in varied degrees.
Witnesses say the driver and a passenger of a northern Uganda bound Isuzu coach died from the crash which took place in Luweero town.
The ill-fated coach collided with another bus that was speeding in the opposite direction, on Tuesday, December 1.
According to New Vision, the midday accident happened when the Isuzu coach, registration number UAS 563R, belonging to Baby Coach Transport company collided with a Poster bus, registration number UAP 594U that was heading to Kampala.
Willy Abahe, a Luweero district traffic officer identified the dead as Godfrey Kyewalyanga, the driver and Florence Nyeko, a passenger of the same bus.
The driver died instantly while the passenger died on her way to Bishop Asili Hospital in Luweero where most of the victims were rushed.
Fifteen other passengers were admitted at several health centres in town, some with severe wounds.
One of the victims, Jonathan Ayella, a 12-year-old boy who was traveling in the Poster bus said they had left Gulu at around 7.00 am.
Ayella who was traveling to Bombo town for his end of year vacation sustained cuts on the forehead and hands by broken glasses.
A witness, Sam Lubega, said the driver of the Baby coach was trying to avoid a peddle cyclist who was riding in the middle of the road when he rammed into the on coming coach.
Police and other rescuers had to cut open the mangled front parts of the two buses to retrieve the dead and some of the survivors who sustained serious injuries.
